Diagram

Full-ice diagram of Full-Ice Figure-8 Shooting. Lines with pucks sit in the bottom-left and top-right corners. Each player carries up the wall to the blue line, swings up through centre ice and back down to the far blue line, curls around the outside of the far faceoff circle, cuts to the net and shoots. The two paths cross at centre ice like a figure-8.

Coaching points

How it runs

  1. Setup: a line with pucks in two opposite corners and a goalie in each net.
  2. Carry the puck up the wall to the blue line.
  3. Swing up through centre ice and back down to the far blue line.
  4. Curl around the outside of the far faceoff circle.
  5. Cut to the net and shoot.
  6. Join the line in the corner at that end. Both corners go at the same time; the next player goes when the one ahead reaches centre.
