Coaching points
- Passer: a hard, flat pass to the corner player's stick, then go defend right away.
- Attacker: catch it, get your feet moving up the wall, then attack the net with speed.
- Stay in your half of the zone. The middle of the ice is the boundary.
- D: stay between the attacker and the net, stick on the ice, take away the middle.
- Shoot to score, then follow it for the rebound.
How it runs
- Three lines: one against the boards in each corner, and one in the middle of the ice at a cone level with the tops of the faceoff circles. Pucks with the centre line. A goalie in the net.
- The front centre player passes to the front of one corner line.
- The corner player carries up the wall. The passer steps across into that half to defend.
- 1-on-1: the attacker curls in and attacks the net, staying in their half of the zone. The D skates backwards and stays on the inside.
- The attacker shoots.
- Rotation: the attacker goes to the centre line, the D goes to the corner line they defended. The next centre player passes to the other corner.
